Canterbury Newsletter, August 2023

Welcome to the Canterbury Newsletter for August.

The next Canterbury HOA Meeting will be held in the clubhouse on Monday, August 14, at 6:30 pm. While Geraldo Becerra from the IMPD unfortunately had to cancel his speaking engagement last month, we are fortunate that he will be speaking at our August meeting. Please plan to attend and hear about crime in our area. And we would love for you to stay to share any concerns and to learn more about the many projects your HOA board is working on.

Your current HOA board members are: Susan Brandt, President; Bob Kincaid, Treasurer; David Swann, Secretary; Nancie Bair, Member-at-Large; Scott Greenwalt, Member-at-Large; and Susie Waltz, Member-at-Large.

With the recent resignation of board member Connie Drury, we have a vacancy for the remainder of 2023. If you are interested in becoming a board member and serving Canterbury, please send a short bio to Kevan Carriger. This is a great volunteer opportunity.

We still have a few weeks of summer to enjoy. It is great to see so many of our residents enjoying our beautiful pool area. While everyone knows that entry to the pool is gained with a key, it was recently pointed out that new neighbors may be confused about how to exit the area. A large ”Exit” button is located on the clubhouse wall to the right of the pool gate. Simply push that, and the gate will unlock. For safety and security, please remember to always make sure that the gate is completely latched behind you when entering/exiting the pool area.

Due to lack of participation, the HOA board has decided to discontinue “Third Saturdays.” Remember that you can always share concerns and meet your neighbors at our monthly HOA meetings. In addition, you can email our KMC Property Manager, Kevan Carriger, at kcarriger@ekirkpatrick.com with any questions.

Did You Know?

There are several restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance of Canterbury. Rusty Bucket Restaurant and Tavern is right across the street; their Happy Hour takes place every weekday from 3 pm to 6 pm, when they offer awesome appetizers for half price, as well as pizzas for only $12. Just to the west of it are Dunkin’ Donuts and Starbucks. Thai Thai Cuisine is also a little further to the west; they offer an amazing lunch special on weekdays from 11 am to 3 pm. Ocean World is right there as well for those of you who enjoy sushi and Japanese cuisine. If you prefer to walk directly to the west of Canterbury, you will find Noble Roman’s Craft Pizza and Pub, Taylor’s Pub, the Lincoln Square Pancake House, and Baskin-Robbins (where you Reese’s fans can find scrumptious chocolate/peanut butter ice cream). Why not get in a little exercise before chowing down by taking a little walk first?

The Indiana State Fair is in full swing! For you Fair Foodies, just a few of the numerous new treats this year are Indiana hardwood nachos, bbq pig wings, sweet corn pizza, gimme s’more bourbon shake, and the Nutellaphant Ear. Interesting! You can find all the State Fair information you need at Indianastatefair.com. The last day to attend is Sunday, August 20.

Please Remember

Parallel parking is strictly prohibited in Canterbury. Residents are required to park in the lined spots throughout the community at all times.

Some residents have been observed smoking in the pool area. As of 2023, the pool rules have been updated to ban all types of smoking and vaping. Please observe this so that everyone can enjoy our pool with no dangerous and annoying secondhand smoke.

Everyone continue to enjoy our last month of summer. We will see you again in September.
